Sheperd Fairey, the world-renowned artist best known for the Obama HOPE poster and the Andre the Giant Has a Posse sticker campaign, has now set his sights on Cincinnati. He emerged from the skateboarding scene and has gone on to become one of today's best known and most influential street artists. His work is included in the collections at The Smithsonian, the Museum of Modern Art in New York, and now Cincinnati.

He has “bombed” the Queen City by putting up seven murals scattered throughout the city. His work isn't just for artsy folks, it's more inspired by punk rock than the Sistine Chapel. It's art for everyone, Fairey himself once said that:

There's a way to be The Beatles, to have the smartest guy in the room and the dumbest guy in the room digging what you're doing ... [it's my goal] to inspire people on multiple levels.

Fairey began his work as a joke, putting up Andre the Giant stickers in public spaces. Now, his spray painted collages encourage us to reconsider how we have filled our cities with billboards and posters promoting products, rather than art and natural beauty. Learn more about his influence.

These murals are temporary and will only survive the elements for a handful of months, so now is the time to go check out, experience Cincinnati and see some great art in the process!
